With a new year coming soon, I wish for my nation (and all other nations) a year:
- without shootings or other violence in the schools, the places of religion, the streets, the homes, or anywhere else, really;
- with honest and competent politicians loyal to their people and principles more than their parties;
- with news media devoted to keeping their people informed of the truths that affect their lives, not only those that inflame their tempers or prurient curiosities;
- with citizens whose idea of citizenship is not to rise up and destroy their fellow citizens, but to protect them all.
May it be so.
